Day 1 – The Beginning (Genesis 1)

Have you ever questioned where did everything come from? When did everything BEGIN?

We are reading a special book called the Bible that answers ALL of our questions. Let’s take a look together. The first three words in the Bible give us the clue:

In the Beginning – that’s when things started – In the beginning God started creating!

Read the Beginning Pages 9-15

New Words & People: let’s start with the beginning of all of the new words we have learned.

Earth, darkness, light, sky, rivers, seas, mountains, deserts, trees, grass, flowers, sun, moon, stars, fish, birds, animals.

1. Who did God make on the 6^th day? – Man

2. That means God was making a home for us on the first five days so we would have a place to live.

3. What did God do on the 7^th day? – Rested.

Read the Special Helper Pages 16-19

New Words & People:

1. What was the name of the first Man? – Adam

2. What was the name of the first Woman? – Eve

A Sad Day

Read a Sad Day Pages 20-27

New Words & People:

1. What was the bad guy in the garden called? – A Snake

2. What was the one with the flaming sword called? An Angel

3. We learned another new word, obey.

• Question: What does obey mean for Adam and Eve?
• Answer: To stay safe by doing what God told them.
• Question: When Adam and Eve disobeyed how did they feel?
• Answer: Scared.

4. What were the 3 things the snake tempted Eve with?

• The fruit is pretty
• The fruit tastes good
• The fruit will make you wise

* Take note – we will see this all the way through the Bible.

• Sin may look pretty for awhile
• Sin may tastes good & feel good for awhile
• Sin may make you feel smarter than everyone for awhile
