Week Seven
Kingdom verses to Highlight!

Starting Jan 1, 2024 would you join me every day in highlighting our Bibles with every Kingdom verse we can find! I personally am using the color purple for Royalty. Can you imagine having over 360 verses marked in your Bible by the end of the year?!
The kingdom of God was one of Jesus’ most talked about matters, but it’s hardly a well-grasped concept for believers today. If you asked a group of people to define it, you would probably get a variety of answers.
This week: Kingdom Warfare words

ACTION – Highlight these entire verses in your Bible.
Week 7 – Feb 9, 2024 Beginnings of the Kingdom on Earth
Starting Jan 2024 we have been marking a Kingdom verse everyday hoping The Holy Spirit would reveal even more about this amazing freedom in Kingdom living. Sure enough these past two weeks He did! I went to the Old Testament to pinpoint the verses that actually reveal the beginning of the thread of The Kingdom and a whole “New Picture” was opened to me. I will try my best in this attempt to explain what I see.
First Kingdom Verse Exodus 19:6
This first Kingdom verse is a “game changer.” Have we been taught the wrong picture of what The Kingdom of God truly looks like? What kind of a Kingdom are we to look for? A Kingdom of Priests! A kingdom of Priests who are in RELATIONSHIP with God, and not a kingdom of warriors with swords and shields.
Now all of the “Warfare” verses we just highlighted these last few weeks make absolute sense! That being said, we may repeat a few verses to line them up with this “new” picture and understanding.
LET’S BEGIN WITH ISRAEL AT MOUNT SINAI and three clues!
– Kingdom of Priests with the Ark of the Covenant and God’s People shouting Victory
#1 The Call of a Kingdom of Priests
19 In the third month after the children of Israel had gone out of the land of Egypt, on the same day, they came to the Wilderness of Sinai… 3 And Moses went up to God, and the Lord called to him from the mountain, saying, “Thus you shall say to the house of Jacob, and tell the children of Israel: 4 ‘You have seen what I did to the Egyptians, and how I bore you on eagles’ wings and brought you to Myself. 5 Now therefore, if you will indeed obey My voice and keep My covenant, then you shall be a special treasure to Me above all people; for all the earth is Mine.
7.1 …you shall be to Me a kingdom of priests and a holy nation. Exodus 19:6
These are the words which you shall speak to the children of Israel.” Exodus 19:1-6
– Let’s think this all the way through.
#2 Ark of Testimony Exodus 25:1-22
Next, God reveals to Moses the plan of a traveling or mobile “Tent of Meeting” with all of the furnishings (which happens to be a type from Heaven). Notice the only piece of furniture that travels separately and is used outside the Tent of Meeting is the Ark of Testimony.
8 And let them make Me a sanctuary, that I may dwell among them. 9 According to all that I show you, that is, the pattern of the tabernacle and the pattern of all its furnishings, just so you shall make it. Exodus 25:8-9
– God promised to meet with them in the tabernacle tent above the Mercy Seat of the Ark.
7.2 … there I will meet with you, and I will speak with you from above the mercy seat, from between the two cherubim which are on the ark of the Testimony, about everything which I will give you in commandment to the children of Israel. Exodus 25:22
– The complete details of the calling of Priests and construction of the Tabernacle are recorded in Exodus chapters 19 through 27 and are summed up in the New Testament by Paul as he presents Jesus as the High Priest of The Kingdom in Hebrews chapter 8.
8 Now this is the main point of the things we are saying: We have such a High Priest, who is seated at the right hand of the throne of the Majesty in the heavens, 2 a Minister of the sanctuary and of the true tabernacle which the Lord erected, and not man.
3 For every high priest is appointed to offer both gifts and sacrifices. Therefore it is necessary that this One also have something to offer. 4 For if He were on earth, He would not be a priest, since there are priests who offer the gifts according to the law; 5 who serve the copy and shadow of the heavenly things, as Moses was divinely instructed when he was about to make the tabernacle. For He said, “See that you make all things according to the pattern shown you on the mountain.” 6 But now He has obtained a more excellent ministry, inasmuch as He is also Mediator of a better covenant, which was established on better promises. Hebrews 8:1-6
– The Ark also goes before them!
7.3 When you see the ark of the covenant of the Lord your God, and the priests, the Levites, bearing it, then you shall set out from your place and go after it. Joshua 3:3
Exodus 19:6 we start with Kingdom of Priests and later in Jeremiah chapter six we see The destruction of Jericho with Priest blowing trumpets, the Ark of the Covenant going before them and the people of God shouting victory. This should have been our picture of “How” God wanted His Kingdom to function on earth!
13 Then seven priests bearing seven trumpets of rams’ horns before the ark of the Lord went on continually and blew with the trumpets. And the armed men went before them. But the rear guard came after the ark of the Lord, while the priests continued blowing the trumpets. 14 And the second day they marched around the city once and returned to the camp. So they did six days.
15 But it came to pass on the seventh day that they rose early, about the dawning of the day, and marched around the city seven times in the same manner. On that day only they marched around the city seven times. 16 And the seventh time it happened, when the priests blew the trumpets that Joshua said to the people:
HERE IT COMES – THE PEOPLE SHOUT FOR VICTORY!
7.4 Shout, for the Lord has given you the city! …Joshua 6:20
20 So the people shouted when the priests blew the trumpets. And it happened when the people heard the sound of the trumpet, and the people shouted with a great shout, that the wall fell down flat. Then the people went up into the city, every man straight before him, and they took the city. 21 And they utterly destroyed all that was in the city, both man and woman, young and old, ox and sheep and donkey, with the edge of the sword…
24 But they burned the city and all that was in it with fire. Only the silver and gold, and the vessels of bronze and iron, they put into the treasury of the house of the Lord.
- Joshua 7:1-9 Israel defeated by the Amorites because of sin in the camp.
- Joshua 7:10-26 The sin of Achan and his family is dealt with.
- Joshua 8:1-29 Israel destroys the Amorites by the sword and fire.
JOSHUA RENEWS THE COVENANT WITH GOD
30 Now Joshua built an altar to the Lord God of Israel in Mount Ebal, 31 as Moses the servant of the Lord had commanded the children of Israel, as it is written in the Book of the Law of Moses: “an altar of whole stones over which no man has wielded an iron tool.” And they offered on it burnt offerings to the Lord, and sacrificed peace offerings. 32 And there, in the presence of the children of Israel, he wrote on the stones a copy of the law of Moses, which he had written. 33 Then all Israel, with their elders and officers and judges, stood on either side of the ark before the priests, the Levites, who bore the ark of the covenant of the Lord, the stranger as well as he who was born among them. Half of them were in front of Mount Gerizim and half of them in front of Mount Ebal, as Moses the servant of the Lord had commanded before, that they should bless the people of Israel. 34 And afterward he read all the words of the law, the blessings and the cursings, according to all that is written in the Book of the Law. 35 There was not a word of all that Moses had commanded which Joshua did not read before all the assembly of Israel, with the women, the little ones, and the strangers who were living among them. Joshua 8:30-35
7.5 you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation 1 Peter 2:9
His own special people, that you may
7.6 proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light; 1 Peter 2:9
10 who once were not a people but are now the people of God, who had not obtained mercy but now have obtained mercy. 1 Peter 2:9-10
– The transition from God’s original design
– The Kingdom of Heaven, Kingdom of God, Kingdom of Priests with God as their King and providing EVERYTHING His people had need of but God’s people asked for an earthly, fleshly king. Even though they rejected God’s plan He still guided them through this process. This is where the “earthly kingdom started!
– Saul, the first king of the people
Then Samuel called the people together to the Lord at Mizpah, 18 and said to the children of Israel, “Thus says the Lord God of Israel: ‘I brought up Israel out of Egypt, and
7.7 (God) delivered you from the hand of the Egyptians and from the hand of all kingdoms and from those who oppressed you. (1Samuael 10:18)
19 But you have today rejected your God, who Himself saved you from all your adversities and your tribulations; and you have said to Him, ‘No,
