I brought up Israel out of Egypt, and delivered you from the hand of the Egyptians and from the hand of all kingdoms and from those who oppressed you.’ ¹⁹ But you have today rejected your God, who Himself saved you from all your adversities and your tribulations; and you have said to Him, ‘No, set a king over us!’ Now therefore, present yourselves before the Lord by your tribes and by your ^[d]clans.” 1 Samuel 10:18-19

Week 8 – Feb 26, 2024 Beginnings of the Kingdom on Earth

People rejecting God being their King who speaks through the prophets, now demanding a physical King to be set OVER them.

Process of the first physical king over Israel.

8.1 Set a king over us!’ 1 Samuel 10:19

Now therefore, present yourselves before the Lord by your tribes and by your clans.” ²⁰ And when Samuel had caused all the tribes of Israel to come near, the tribe of Benjamin was chosen. ²¹ When he had caused the tribe of Benjamin to come near by their families, the family of Matri was chosen. And Saul the son of Kish was chosen. 1Samuel 10:17-21

²⁴ And Samuel said to all the people, “Do you see him whom the Lord has chosen, that there is no one like him among all the people?”

8.2 So all the people shouted and said, “Long live the king!” 1 Samuel 10:24

¹² Then the people said to Samuel, “Who is he who said, ‘Shall Saul reign over us?’ Bring the men, that we may put them to death.” ¹³ But Saul said, “Not a man shall be put to death this day, for today the Lord has accomplished salvation in Israel.” ¹⁴ Then Samuel said to the people, “Come, let us go to Gilgal and

8.3 renew the kingdom 1 Samuel 11:14

¹⁵ So all the people went to Gilgal, and there

8.4 they made Saul king before the Lord in Gilgal 1Samuel 11:15

There they made sacrifices of peace offerings before the Lord, and there Saul and all the men of Israel rejoiced greatly. 1 Samuel 11:14-15

 TWO YEARS LATER

And Samuel said to Saul, “You have done foolishly. You have not kept the commandment of the Lord your God, which He commanded you. For now

8.5 The Lord would have established your kingdom over Israel forever. 1 Samuel 13:13

8.6 But now your kingdom shall not continue. 1 Samuel 13:14

 The Lord has sought for Himself a man after His own heart, and the Lord has commanded him to be commander over His people, because you have not kept what the Lord commanded you.” 1 Samuel 13:13-14

8.7 The Lord has torn the kingdom of Israel from you today, and has given it to a neighbor of yours, who is better than you. 1 Samuel 15:26-28
