Was this start of taking Physical and Spiritual Inventory difficult for you? As we identify with Jesus and choose to walk in the power of The Holy Spirit to be a witness to this last dark generation, we MUST rid ourselves of ALL of these worldly roadblocks.

What are the things in your life that slow down (or maybe even stop) your spiritual maturity?
19 Now the works of the flesh are evident, which are: adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lewdness, 20 idolatry, sorcery, hatred, contentions, jealousies, outbursts of wrath, selfish ambitions, dissensions, heresies, 21 envy, murders, drunkenness, revelries, and the like; of which I tell you beforehand, just as I also told you in time past, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God. Galatians 5:19-21
OK we have dealt with the big first four strongholds of adultery, fornication, uncleanness and lewdness now let’s attack the next one:
Little children, keep yourselves from idols. 1 John 5:21
It can’t be any clearer than this, so what is an idol?
Starting with the Old Testament top three as these are a shadow or teacher for things to come.

Nebuchadnezzar’s Statue Daniel 3
Physical idols will always lead to the worship of a false god.
Carved image, sacred pillar, engraved stone and bow down to it Leviticus 26:1
Made of: wood and stone and silver and gold Deuteronomy 29:17
Made by the hands of men’s to worship demons, idols of gold, silver, brass, stone, and wood, which can neither see nor hear nor walk. Revelation 19:20
Apply it to today!
Idolatry is not merely the worship of physical statues but as any act that places a person, object, or concept above the sovereign position of God. Now we are getting somewhere!
There are religions that still produce statutes and use them as a symbol as a false god, for us in the USA these are like voodoo dolls, charms, gargoyle like things from other countries that can carry a demonic power. Even statues of angels or Catholic saints in our homes can bring about the wrong spirit as we are not to worship either one; we are not to talk to the dead.
Remember the definition – anything we put above Father God and His Son Jesus. Anything that we give more: time, energy and resources to more than God. Anything we would hang on our wall or display in prominent place in our room that clearly says: “I give GREAT HONOR to this object” is an IDOL!
Here is a list to look at:
70 inch flat screen displaying the revived gladiator game called sports constantly praising the #1 player in the Nation. Oh that we would give half that time seeking our Lord.
The love of money is the root of all evil… which is displayed by the gluttony of stuff we have in our homes. Consumerism is the #1 religion in the world (buy more and be happy).
We can turn anything into an IDOL: our children, business, wine collection, and pets. Narcissism is the state of making ourselves our own idols. When you start saying detestable things like: “This is my truth” elevating you thoughts over the Truth of God.
WHAT IS THE GATEKEEPER TO LOOK FOR?
Posters/Pictures, of idols: rock stars, football “champions” Political “heroes” religious gurus, or demonic images of; witches warlocks, dark movies or fantasy figures (half human half animal). Remove Rainbow posters or flags which just laugh in the face of God. One family had over 1000 Jim Beam alcohol bottles; another had over 1000 angel statues.
Being a Watchman and Gatekeeper for your family is a calling from God and God will help. Here is a simple process:
1. Pray for God’s help; ask for wisdom, discernment and great love for your household.
2. Get your own life “squared away” even if you are still making a few mistakes, stand strong and take charge for you and your family.
3. Recruit your family to help you in this battle; have family meetings to express struggles, victories and to pray for help. Be vulnerable here.
4. Have each family member go through their own bedroom asking God themselves if there is anything unacceptable in their room that is not pleasing to our Lord.
