What are the things in your life that slow down (or maybe even stop) your spiritual maturity?
19 Now the works of the flesh are evident, which are: adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lewdness, 20 idolatry, sorcery, hatred, contentions, jealousies, outbursts of wrath, selfish ambitions, dissensions, heresies, 21 envy, murders, drunkenness, revelries, and the like; of which I tell you beforehand, just as I also told you in time past, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God. Galatians 5:19-21
Sorcery – Really?
Oh yes, sorcery is an attempt to bypass God’s wisdom and power and give glory to Satan instead which God has no tolerance for and neither should we.
Practicing divination or tells fortunes or interprets omens, or a sorcerer or a charmer or a medium or a necromancer or one who inquires of the dead.
Demonic, earthly so call wisdom is sorcery.
This wisdom does not descend from above, but is earthly, sensual, demonic. James 3:15
Sorcery will be increased all the way to the end times. Spiritual Babylon, representing the false religious system of the last days, will deceive “all nations” with sorcery Revelation 18:23. Ending in Revelation 21:8 & 22:15 sorcerers “will be in the lake that burns with fire and sulfur, which is the second death”.
Lastly, the Greek word translated “sorcery” is pharmakeia, which is the source of our English word pharmacy. In Paul’s day, the word primarily meant “dealing in poison” or “drug use” and was applied to divination and spell-casting because sorcerers often used drugs along with their incantations and amulets to conjure occult power.
WHAT IS THE GATEKEEPER TO LOOK FOR?
- Posters/Pictures, demonic images of; witches warlocks, dark movies or fantasy figures (half human half animal).
- Movies, music, books that have chanting or the casting of spells, drugs of any kind.
- Online sights of fortune tellers or interprets omens, or a sorcerer or a charmer or a medium or a necromancer or one who inquires of the dead.
- Games that promote demonic powers.
Being a Watchman and Gatekeeper for your family is a calling from God and God will help. Here is a simple process:
1. Pray for God’s help; ask for wisdom, discernment and great love for your household.
2. Get your own life “squared away” even if you are still making a few mistakes, stand strong and take charge for you and your family.
3. Recruit your family to help you in this battle; have family meetings to express struggles, victories and to pray for help. Be vulnerable here.
4. Have each family member go through their own bedroom asking God themselves if there is anything unacceptable in their room that is not pleasing to our Lord.
