16 Keys to Interpret

Your Bible, Prophecy and The book of Revelation

If the Bible is a map, then we need a legend to help guide us through it.

I remember living on a mountain pass that traveled by Mt Rainier in the state of Washington. In the summer it was a most spectacular drive but was closed during the winter as the snowfall was around 20 feet high. Many times a day I would see cars (and semi-trucks if you can believe it) trying to turn around in the snow on this two lane highway when they saw the sign: ROAD CLOSED AHEAD. This was happening because they didn’t follow the sign 30 miles back, their GPS was out of range and wasn’t talking in their ear and they ignored the map legend that gave the closure dates.

Map legends, aka map keys, are reliable visual guides that help you understand the features on a map like specific road construction, railroads, bodies of water, toll booths, and points of interests. The most important key is the map scale, or the distance between two points that tells you how far a certain place is from you.

Our Bible is no different; we need a Legend or Map Keys to guide us through the 66 books, which would make the map scale (measurement of miles) our timing of prophecy. Over the past 50 years of having a relationship with the Holy Scriptures I have discovered 16 KEYS that keep me on a straight path of interpretation. I am sure there are more, but these 16 KEYS to unlock your Bible work for me.

GENERAL KEYS – unlocking the Bible as a whole

Key 1 – The only True Living Standard in the World is the Word of God as recorded in The Bible. Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path. Psalm 119:105

Key 2 – The Word of God is ALIVE! It collides, interacts and invades our lives. word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. Hebrews 4:12

Key 3 – The Bible is a library of 66 separate books (now compiled in one volume) written by more than forty authors over a period of 1500 years. Each one of these authors confessing they were only co-authors, as they were inspired by God to write. The amazing thing is that none of the 66 books contradict the others.

Key 4 – The Bible is Eye-witnessed & Co-authored; Divinely Ordered – Humanly Written. For we did not follow cunningly devised fables when we made known to you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but were eyewitnesses of His majesty. 1 Peter 1:16-18

Key 5 – Know Jesus He is the Living Word  In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God…4 In Him was life... John 1:1-4 14 And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us… John 1:14-18

Key 6 – The Word of God is revealed in the People of the Bible and how God deals with them. It would be good to start by knowing these folks in the “Hall of Faith.” Able, Cain, Enoch, Noah, Abraham, Sarah, Isaac, Jacob, Joseph, Israel, Moses, Joshua, the harlot Rahab, Gideon, Barak, Samson, Jephthah, David, Samuel, all the prophets recorded in Hebrews 11.

SPECIFIC KEYS – unlocking prophecy and the Book of Revelation

Key 8 – The Testimony of Jesus is the Spirit of Prophecy To understand prophecy and the book of Revelation we must understand it is the revelation of how Jesus Christ deals with the end times. For the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy. (Revelation 19:10) Video Teaching Key 8

Key 9 – The Kingdom of God Thread And He (Jesus) said to them, “To you it has been given to know the mystery of the kingdom of God; but to those who are outside, all things come in parables, (Mark 4:11) All Prophecies have their Foundational Root in Revealing God’s Kingdom and Jesus as King. Key 10 – Prophecy comes from God the Holy Spirit ²⁰ … NO prophecy of Scripture is of any private interpretation, ²¹ for prophecy never came by the will of man, but holy men of God spoke as they were moved by the Holy Spirit. (1 Peter 1:19-21)

Key 11 – Prophecy fulfilled literally not figuratively With over 1000 prophecies recorded in the Bible, over 500 have already been fulfilled, and all of those have been fulfilled literally.

Key 12 – Mountain Top to Mountain Top Prophecy or Duel Prophecy Fulfillment – The prophets of old only saw visions of the things concerning Israel and God’s renewed Kingdom on earth. Example: the prophets did not “see” two comings of Christ, they only saw one mountain top but there was another mountain top behind it that they did not see. One prophecy, two or three fulfillments.

Key 13 – God’s Calendar & Feasts of The Lord – The Bible calls these clues: appointed Times, Feasts, Seed time & Harvest, 28 day New Moon Month and Shemitha and Jubilee years. These are what the Jews continued to practice for the 2000 years. Because the Jews continued in ALL of these appointed times we have God’s calendar and measurement of time miraculously intact today!

Key 14 – Prophetic announcing words: will be, forever, from that time (Isaiah 9:6-7)

Key 15 – Separation of Jews & Gentiles and their order of reckoning. From the beginning of God’s calling of the National of Israel, the one encompassing: idea, thought, picture and law was: to come out of ALL worldly nations and to be separate. Full Teaching Video Teaching

 Key 16 – Divine Order – Do not Dislocate Scriptural Events in the book of Revelation. Write the things which (first) you have seen [things in John’s past], and (second) the things which are [John is on the prisoner island of Patmos getting this revelation], and (last) the things which will take place after this [things in the near future]. (All in order). (Revelation 1:19)

*NOTE – The second part of this key: God deals primarily with the Jews in the entire Book of Revelation and with the Gentiles believers mainly in chapters 4-7 of Revelation.
