Kingdom People News USA – July 2020
As Kingdom members we dare not fall into the trap of cultural fake news. Fake news is just a distraction to tempt us away from our daily assignments of ministry.
You therefore must endure hardship as a good soldier of Jesus Christ. 4 No one engaged in warfare entangles himself with the affairs of this life, that he may please him who enlisted him as a soldier. 2 Timothy 2:3-4
Now then, we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were pleading through us… 2 Corinthians 5:20
For our citizenship is in heaven, from which we also eagerly wait for the Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ Philippians 3:20
UNDERSTANDING THE FAKE NEWS PATTERN?
Stage #1 – One or more mouthpieces with some kind of image of authority, speaking fake, false, misleading, disinformation based on a biased viewpoint. Igniting targeted interest groups that attach their own personal agenda, then defend the news and attack anyone who opposed the view.
Stage #2 – Give it a name, with an easy initial to remember and brand it with a physical gesture to unite the movement. Now pre-made websites are launched with some kind of fake promises that motivate people to donate money to the cause. Yes, follow the money trail and you will find the group behind the curtain pulling the strings of thousands of puppets.
Stage #3 – Targeted groups now with their united name and brand begin to speak the same five talking points over and over like an “echo chamber” creating their own fake news until those that are listening begin to either side with them or oppose them. This is social media at its worse, constantly posting altered news clips, videos of injustices from years ago, connecting the injustices to their great grandfather’s grandfather, next someone picks up their gun.
Stage #4 – Release the Beast; individuals and groups are brought to a frenzy by the false news and now start to “mob up” to “right the wrong”. Remember, this is not an organic movement, there is always folks in the shadows paving a way for the beast. These are the ones who have pulled protest permits in advance, who have arranged bail money and attorneys to be on standby and who have posted the advertisements to hire protestors and purchased bricks to be strategically placed in those protest areas.
HOW TRAGIC BUT WE MUST MOVE PAST IT
If we allow our minds to get wrapped up in these wars, we risk missing the very assignment we have been called to. We might be blinded or seared in our hearts and miss an opportunity to pray, to give an encouraging word, to feed someone. We might be tempted to be offended ourselves and actually curse the one we are called to minister to.
I pray in Jesus Name that each of you would be on guard with your shield of faith held strong while practicing the gift of self-control. Keep your discernment sharp and pray the prayer of faith, lay hands on the sick, share the Gospel of the Kingdom. Be wise in all you do.
